Patrick Dunavan

I am Patrick Dunavan and am listed on the site as being a CBSer who worked
in the Program Department at KNXT.  That is correct as far as it goes.  But
I also worked in the News Department there, first on the news film processor
beginning in about 1964, then as a newsfilm editor, which was the position I
held during the changeover from short-form news to the Big News.

I left Channel Two for a couple of years in the late sixties to work in the
film studios as an assistant editor, but worked vacation relief at KNXT
during the summer months.  In 1969 I returned to a staff position as film
editor on a weekly News Department series called "About a Week,"  a show
which I ended up producing.

When AAW was cancelled, I continued on as producer of news features, then
created and produced "Noontime" & finally the 11 PM nightly news broadcast,
"Newsroom" with Joseph Benti.

In the early seventies I moved over to the Program Department as a
producer-director of Public Affairs series and documentary specials.  I left
KNXT in the mid-seventies to become a freelancer.

I will be sending a more detailed bio within a week or so.  In the
meanwhile, I hope that it will be possible to add me to the roster of Big
News staffers.  That was a cherished time for me, personally and
professionally, and it means a lot to be counted in that distinguished
company of colleagues.

Thanks so much,
Patrick Dunavan
