MEREDITH BABEAUX BRUCKER




             Upon graduation from Stanford University in 1957 with a major in Radio/TV, Meredith was hired by Mary Albright for the CBS secretarial pool. After assignments with Phil Norman’s “Housewives Protective League” radio show and Mike Kizziah’s sports and election coverage at Columbia Square, she moved to TV City.  She had an interview with Dominick Dunne and was hired to work on PLAYHOUSE 90, answering fan mail and schlepping coffee or script changes to the directors and writers.  Eventually she became a “Unit Secretary” on the show, working for Russell Stoneham. 

            Later Meredith worked on THE VERDICT IS YOURS, a daily daytime courtroom show produced by Bert Berman.  She was Assistant to the Producer and then Assistant Story Editor on the show and also wrote one of their 7-episode scripts, “Crane vs. the Hilldale Academy.”

            At KNXT she worked in the News Department as a researcher for Maury Green and Paul Udell and others, and on the panel news discussion show NEWSMAKERS with Eli Bregman and Georges Fischer.  Eventually she served as Producer of that show.

            After her CBS years, she worked at KTLA News, first as a researcher for newsman Bill Stout, then for a short stint as Assignment Editor in the News Department.  She was also Associate Producer in the Documentary Film Department at MGM studios, working on “The Wolf Men,” and “Dear Mr. Gable.

            After the birth of her son, Meredith became a writer.  She published nine novels and a children’s book, and many newspaper articles and book reviews.  She taught writing for the UCLA Writers Program and Pasadena City College and organized the annual writers’ conference at PCC.
